Who I Am

Daily Post Day 42: My Favorite Word is…

miscellaneous.

Why?

Really, I don’t know the reason why this is my favorite word. From a very young age, I made mixed tapes (ooh remember those?!) and titled them all “Miscellaneos” (this was before I could spell correctly). Even after I grew out of the mixed tape phase, I still preferred the world “miscellaneous” over any other word when describing a smorgasbord of things.

Give me a survey and ask me what I like. I’ll write down a few examples and then add in “miscellaneous” for kicks.

Daily Post Day 41: My Dream Vacation

I want to go on vacation in a place where the ocean and mountains both coexist. I love the sight of mountains because I feel so peaceful. Ocean waves hitting the shores = bliss.

The last vacation I took was in Las Vegas; sure, there are mountains in the distance from the city, but it certainly isn’t the same. Plus, the dry air of the desert does not please me at all.

One day I’ll be able to take my dream vacation, wherever that is.

Daily Post Day 40: What a Fool Believes…

Today’s prompt:

What’s something you never believed until you experienced it?

I never believed in getting a second chance in life until two near-death experiences in the past month/year.

I never believed that time could slow down until these experiences came to be. I was practically forced to slow down after almost dying twice.

But now I am better, stronger, from what I have experienced. I try my best to live each day fully, learning from what I have experienced with almost dying (twice).

Daily Post Day 39: Worst Teacher Ever

As I think back upon my history of teachers/professors….there’s not one I can specify by name (and really, why would I want to be cruel and call out specific names?)

Worst teacher/professor ever had: one who doesn’t teach. One who doesn’t ENGAGE the students into the material. One who only reads the material through and expects us to understand via osmosis. This kind of teacher/professor makes the class feel uninteresting. And boredom kills me especially when in a classroom.

Daily Post Day 38: Life Without the Internet

I wonder if any of us (who’ve grown up with the Internet) could live without it.

Ask me if I could live without the Internet.

……

Yes and no (I tend to answer this way a lot).

YES, I can live without the Internet because it distracts me to no end to get things done both on/off the computer. If I didn’t have Internet, I would certainly accomplish more tasks and stuff-I-want-to-do than aimlessly surfing the web for random tidbits.

NO, I can’t live without the Internet…for the fact that it keeps me connected to many people who are not physically close by. Text messaging/SMS has become more prevalent in US culture in the past ten years, but I’d rather not be charged money for an international text if I can just easily message a friend online.

Then again, I wonder….if we didn’t have the Internet, would I still even remember some people from my past?
