An extra entry for today…just wanted to say: this is a horribly unflattering picture of Barack Obama. Looks like he is growing out of the microphones/podium. I wonder if the NY Times photographer meant for this picture to look like this.
Bookstores are deadly…
I found myself perusing through a lot of bookshelves today at Borders after my dentist appointment. What started out as a simple browse through the Local Interest section ended up being an hour of looking through all the new releases (nonfiction and fiction), swimming around the bargain books and then skimming in the Self Help, Business, Small Business/Entrepreneur bookshelves. I could have spent much more time at Borders today, but I was beginning to feel overwhelmed with all of the book titles and how they all tempted me to buy them.
But alas, I held off on my purchases and instead have looked up some of the books at the Public Library website so I can check the books out in my own time later. I have to save money still, since I am currently still job searching.
In other news, in case you missed my previous entry (since I just now backdated it): Check out my friend’s work— I promise you will not regret it.
Eyes Staring Out
Trying to get my friend’s work out there for others to enjoy. He is an art student, currently in his fourth year of university; his areas of expertise are in animation, photography, and film. Right now he has a Youtube channel displaying some of his film work/pieces. He says he will be updating his channel with more work in the future, so stay tuned. You can also check out some of his artwork on his Livejournal or his Myspace.
Here’s a sample of his work:
FRS Peach Mango
Bought a can of FRS Peach Mango in San Mateo and tried it out. For about a month or so, I had been curious about this since my Hungry Girl newsletters harped a lot about FRS being a healthy energy drink. They are still offering free trials of their products, but I have been hesitant to sign up for them since apparently they begin to charge your credit card after the trial period is over.
Anyway, I tried the FRS drink out, and it was decent–I forgot to shake it up, so that might have altered the taste a little. Not too strong, not too bland–seemed to hit the spot, at least for the moment. I couldn’t really tell if it really made me feel more energized or not, though. I did go out and walk for an hour after I had the drink, just so I would spend some of that energy for something good.
Only 25 calories and they seem to feature a lot of healthy benefits and different flavors. I wouldn’t mind trying out this beverage again in the future.
Had dim sum today at Yank Sing in SOMA. The dim sum was pretty good–seemed less greasy and somewhat cleaner than what I would find in Chinatown. However, the place is rather pricey and caters more towards the affluent folk. I would probably not go to this dim sum if I were with my friends since I know we all prefer bargains at this point in our lives (meaning: we want/need to save money for rent/other expenses).
Anyway, I received this fortune from my fortune cookie today:
“You will soon be traveling to a distant land.”
It amused me since it is pretty accurate. I am planning on traveling overseas in a few months. How did the cookie know?
